Constitution of the Association AQPIDA
ARTICLE 1 - NAME
The name of the society shall be:
The Association for Quantum Probability and Infinite Dimensional Analysis (AQPIDA).
ARTICLE 2 - THE OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the association shall be
- (a) to form a scholarly, nonpolitical, and nonprofit-making professional association of those interested in the subject of
quantum
probability, infinite dimensional analysis and related topics;
- (b) to promote interest and scholarly research in this scientific area; in particular by actively promoting the diffusion of the journal Ïnfinite Dimensional Analysis, Quantum Probability and Related Topics" and the book series "QP-PQ: Quantum Probability and White Noise Analysis".
- (c) to promote cooperative activities and exchange of information within this field - mainly by organizing
workshops on topics of interest for the Association; in particular every
year the Association will organize the "Conference on Infinite Dimensional
Analysis and Quantum Probability".
- (d) to encourage young scientists by organizing schools
on topics of interest for the Association and by creating a Periodic
Prize for young researchers;
- (e) to provide means for the publication and distribution of
scholarly research, for supporting the annual meetings, for giving
financial support to young researchers and scientists from countries
with less developed economies and for the objectives mentioned in (d).
ARTICLE 3 - POWERS OF THE ASSOCIATION
The Association shall have power to take all lawful actions which are
appropriate to the achievement of its objectives.
ARTICLE 4 - MEMBERSHIP
- Membership shall be open to all interested in the field of quantum probability, infinite dimensional analysis and related
topics.
- Members may vote at the Annual Membership Meeting that will usually take place during one of the annual workshops, by
mail or E-mail.
- Members shall receive as a gift or at reduced prices publications promoted by the Association.
- Dues shall be paid annually; exemptions and details will be specified annually by the Scientific Board.
ARTICLE 5 - ORGANIZATION
- Ultimate authority shall be exercised by the membership.
- At the Annual Membership Meeting held during one of the annual
conferences the Presidium of AQPIDA has to give a report on the activities
of the Association for the preceding year, plans for the forthcoming year,
and a review of the current financial situation of the Association.
If there is more than one proposal for organizing a workshop on the subject
of the Association within any year the members will choose by voting
one of them. The Presidium of AQPIDA partecipates to the jury of the
Association Prize
- The Scientific Board consists of representatives of participating
countries. Until the Association has less than 200 members each country
has the right to elect one representative to the Scientific Board every 5
members, one representative if there are less than 5 members. If
the Association has more than 200 members, new representation rules
will be decided.
The Scientific Board shall be elected by the assembly of the members
by secret voting during the annual workshop.
Non-participating members can vote by mail or E-mail.
- Proposals concerning the Association policy may be initiated during
the Annual Membership Meeting by means of motions adopted by a
majority vote of members attending the meeting. To become Association policy
such proposals must be approved by a simple majority of the members.
E-mail ballots are allowed.
- The affairs of the Association shall be administrated by the Presidium
and by the Scientific Board. The Presidium consists of the President,
the Vice-President and the Treasurer. For the period of preparation of
the annual conference its organizer automatically
becomes a non-voting member of the Presidium.
- Each person elected to the Scientific Board ot to the Presidium
shall serve a two year term. With the exception of the first year, the
elections will take place one year befor the decay date of each board.
- The Presidium is elected, by simple majority rule, by the Scientific
Board. Each member of the Presidium must be a member of the Scientific Board.
It shall have the authority to execute on behalf of the
Association all powers und functions of AQPIDA that
are consistent with the Constitution.
- The Presidium shall approve an annual budget. Financial decisions
shall be supervised by the whole Scientific Board and shall be
evaluated during the Annual Membership Meeting. The Treasurer will be
responsible for the annual financial report.
- The Scientific Board and the Presidium shall meet at the time
of the annual conference but may also conduct its affairs by mail
and/or telephone.
- At the Annual Membership Meeting the Presidium shall present a
report covering the activities of the Association since the
previous meeting. A certified audit of the financial report will be
prepared and presented by the Treasurer.
- The Advisory Board is chosen by the Presidium on proposal of at
least one third of the members of the Scientific Board. It will be
chosen among persons who have given substantial contributions to the
topics of interest for the Association. In case of divergence of
opinions a member can be elected by simple majority votation by the
Scientific Board. Its members cannot be also members of the Scientific Board
and are renewed at any election. They can be reconfirmed. It prepares a
critical assesment of the conferences and publication policy of the
Association to be read in the annual meeting. It partecipates to the
jury of the Association Prize. It partecipates to the choice of the venue of
the annual conference and of the schools organized by the Association.
ARTICLE 6 - AMENDMENTS
Amendments to the Constitution may be proposed by the Scientific Board,
by members attending the Annual Meeting or by petition
signed by at least 10 % of the members. Proposed amendments shall be
discussed at the first Membership Meeting following the
proposal, after which they shall be submitted by the Scientific Board to
all members either for postal or electronic vote. After allowing
two months for returns they shall be considered adopted if approved by
the majority of members casting ballots.
